Easy Blackberry Baked Brie in Puff Pastry Recipe (Perfect Appetizer!)
With melty cheese, sweet preserves, and buttery pastry, this blackberry baked brie in puff pastry is the easiest, most elegant appetizer!
The Perfect Appetizer:
Baked brie is the perfect appetizer for a dinner party, shower, ladies’ night, tailgate, wine night, or weeknight in! It is also a delicious addition to any charcuterie board. My friend Mary Catherine shared this recipe with me at a dinner party, and it’s a delicious twist on Tastes of Lizzy T’s baked brie. I couldn’t get enough!
This dish is elegant, requires little prep time, and can easily be made ahead! I love a sweet and savory combo, and this delicious baked brie checks all the boxes. It’s fabulous served with gourmet crackers, apple slices, pear slices, sourdough, or even toasted pieces of sliced baguette!

What Ingredients Are in This Recipe?
This delicious appetizer is made of all store-bought ingredients, making it an easy crowd-pleaser to throw together for any occasion! To make it, you need the following ingredients:
-
1/2 cup blackberry jam – I love Bonne Maman, but use what you prefer! This is also delicious with raspberry jam, fig jam, or apricot jam.
-
8 oz or 13.2 oz of Brie cheese – I love the Ile de France Double Cream Brie or Président Brie Triple Crème!
-
1 Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheet
-
Toasted nuts – These are optional, but I love to toast up some pecans, walnuts, or even pistachios in a skillet with butter and salt, and top the brie with these at the end before serving!
-
Egg wash – This gives the puff pastry a beautiful golden color. Just whisk together one egg and one tablespoon of water.
-
Crackers for serving – Feel free to use whatever you prefer, but I enjoy the Firehook Garlic Thyme or Crunchmaster Multi-Seed crackers!
Do I Need to Take the Rind Off My Brie?
This is completely up to personal preference, but you do not have to take the rind off your brie before baking it. Removing the entire rind is tedious, and with the flavors of the jam and puff pastry, you truly cannot taste the rind at all. Some people do prefer to remove the top rind, which you can easily slice off with a sharp knife.

How Do I Make Baked Brie?
To make this simple and delicious appetizer, start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay a thawed sheet of puff pastry dough on the baking sheet, and place your brie in the middle of the pastry. Next, spoon your jam on top of the brie, spreading evenly to ensure everyone gets a taste of jam with each bite! Bring up the edges of the pastry and brush it with egg wash to secure the folds. Next, brush the top of the brie with your egg wash. In a 400-degree oven, bake the brie for 30–40 minutes or until the pastry is golden. Plate your brie on a pretty serving platter and serve as is or add a garnish. I love to add toasted nuts, but you can also add a sprig of fresh rosemary or a drizzle of honey.
Can I Make Baked Brie Ahead Of Time?
You can absolutely prep this dish ahead of time! If you are making this before you want to serve it, you can refrigerate the brie right after you assemble it. When you’re ready to serve, pop it in the oven and bake as normal. This appetizer has to be served hot and fresh, so I would not recommend baking it and then storing it.
