The BEST copycat for Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip
Here’s the absolute BEST copycat recipe for Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip (the green dip) that you’ll find anywhere. It is absolutely addictive!!!

What is the green sauce at Chuy’s?
Chuy’s famous green sauce is a deluxe tomatillo sauce with sour cream, fresh herbs, cilantro & spices. It gets its green color from both the tomatillos and the fresh cilantro.
This copycat recipe is the best (in my opinion)
When Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip became all the rage, copycat recipes were showing up everywhere. After trying several recipes that were brought to parties or church “game nights,” I was not impressed. The biggest problem to me was the overt taste of mayonnaise. I began to experiment, and finally came up with this recipe. It does have mayonnaise, but you can’t really taste it. It is tangy, bright, and has kick. It also has fresh flavor from the tomatillo salsa and fresh cilantro.

What ingredients are in Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip?
The following ingredients are used to make Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip copycat recipe:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise (I use avocado mayo and can’t tell any difference)
- 1 1/2 cup sour cream (reduced fat not fat free- you can also use plain greek yogurt)
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup tomatillo salsa
- 1- Tbsp fresh cilantro (I like to remove the stems, but you can include them if you prefer a stronger cilantro flavor!)
- 1 1/2 packet ranch dressing mix
- 1/4 cup pickled jalapeño peppers (Mezzetta tamed jalapeños are fabulous! I love using pickled jalapeño peppers because they are less spicy than a regular jalapeno pepper)
How Do I Make This Creamy Jalapeño Sauce?
This delicious creamy jalapeno sauce could not be easier to make! It requires basically zero prep time and comes together in the fridge. Simply put your mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, salsa, cilantro, ranch mix, and pickled jalapeño peppers into the blender. Blend it until smooth, and let it chill for a few hours before serving. Keep this in the fridge for up to five days!
How to measure Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix:
There isn’t much in life that ranch dressing doesn’t make better, and this dip is no exception! The Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix is so popular and used for so many recipes, it is now sold in large spice containers at most grocery stores. If you can only find the dressing packets, here is a tip. One packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix + 4 tablespoons of mix. If you make this recipe with the packets, you’ll use one and a half packets. But you can save the half packet for later. Trust me; you’ll be making this dip often. I love using ranch dressing mix because it eliminates the need for other seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, or even salt! Other “dupe” recipes require a lengthy list of seasoning like chili powder, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, garlic cloves, and more. Using a Ranch seasoning packet

How Should I Serve This Delicious Creamy Jalapeño Dip?
Once you make this recipe, you will want to serve it with everything! It’s wonderful served with tortilla chips or as a dip for veggies. I also love to use it as a sauce in burritos, tacos, burrito bowls, chicken quesadillas, and even as a dressing for salads! This creamy sauce makes a FAB addition to any Mexican spread! To make it into a salad dressing, you can thin it with some lime juice or extra salsa!
How to make the Chuy’s Creamy Jalapeño Dip Ahead:
I make this dip at least a few hours ahead, because the flavors need time to blend and develop. You don’t need to chop anything, as the food processor will take care of this!
Note: The dip will thicken as it sits in the fridge. For best consistency, let the dip sit at room temperature for half an hour before serving.
