I Used to Wake Up at 3 A.M. Every Night. Here’s What Gave Me the Best Sleep of My Life in My 60s

If you’re in your fifties or sixties and you wake up at two or three in the morning, stare at the ceiling, and can’t get back to sleep no matter what you do, these tips are for you. That used to be me almost every single night!

Today, I’m getting the best sleep of my life in my 60s, and it didn’t happen by accident. In this episode, I’m sharing my best sleep tips for women over 50, starting with the single biggest change I made almost a year ago and the early bedtime I now protect.

I’m also walking you through every sleep essential that has earned a spot in my routine: the magnesium drinks I mix up, the mocktail that replaced my five o’clock glass of wine, my sleep socks and blanket, the mattress that took away Zane’s shoulder pain overnight, and more.

This isn’t medical advice, just what I do, what I take, and what I sleep in. If restless nights have you running on empty, I hope something here helps you sleep a little sweeter tonight!

  • Why a consistent early bedtime is one of my top sleep tips for women over 50
  • The magnesium drinks I rotate at night, including the Clevr Blends SuperLatte I’m a little addicted to
  • The five o’clock mocktail ritual that replaced my glass of wine, plus the non-alcoholic sparkling rosé I have fallen in love with
  • The cozy things I sleep in, from my diabetic sleep socks (and my recent scare with leg cramps) to my Lola blanket
  • What we’ve learned sleeping on Sleep Number, DreamCloud, Helix, and Leesa, and the mattress that took away Zane’s neck and shoulder pain after one night
  • The $200 pillow I’ll defend all day, my Hatch sound machine, and the sheets I love
  • Why Zane and I now sleep in separate bedrooms (and why it’s working for our marriage)
