Botox, Fillers, Hair Growth, & Skin Texture: What a Dermatologist Really Recommends

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by all the advice around Botox, fillers, skincare treatments, and hair growth, you are not alone. I’ve had so many of these questions myself, which is why I’m so excited to sit down with my good friend and trusted dermatologist, Dr. Jo Lynne Herzog, for this conversation.

We’re cutting through the noise and talking honestly about what actually works (and what’s not worth your time or money). From injectables like Botox, Dysport, and Daxify, to how we can maintain facial volume as we age, to achieving glowy skin and improving texture—we cover it all. My hope is that you walk away feeling more informed, more confident, and less pressured to chase every new trend!

Who is Dr. Jo Lynne Herzog?

Dr. Herzog, a provider at Elite Skin, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She attended CUNY, including a year studying in Britain, and later pursued graduate work in medical anthropology at Cornell University before earning her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After completing her dermatology residency at Penn State—where she met her husband—she moved to Alabama, ultimately settling in Birmingham to raise their five children.

She has since completed extensive training in cosmetic, aesthetic, and surgical dermatology and has participated in numerous clinical trials, including those involving widely used cosmetic fillers. Known as an experienced injector, she has worked with a wide range of products and trained other physicians. Inspired by her mother’s artistic background, she brings a creative eye to her work. Dr. Herzog is active in several professional organizations, is a past president of the Alabama Dermatology Society, and enjoys tennis and time with her family.
